Pest Control Service in Florence, AZ
Pest control in Florence, AZ is a long trip for Kai, close to an hour and a half from Tempe, so call first before you count on a visit. The town splits between 19th-century adobes downtown and newer homes at Anthem at Merrill Ranch, out along Hunt Highway. Old adobe and new block raise different questions, and the drive decides what schedule is realistic.

Kekoa can reach Florence, but only with planning. It is about 88 minutes and 52 miles from our pest control home in Tempe, a long way for a one-person business. Levi Ruggles platted the town in 1866, and it has been the Pinal County seat since the county was formed in 1875. That history is still standing. The first courthouse was adobe and now anchors McFarland State Historic Park, and more than 25 buildings carry National Register listings. Out along Hunt Highway, the same town limits take in Anthem at Merrill Ranch, a master-planned community of over 3,100 acres.
Adobe walls downtown and block walls at Merrill Ranch
Older buildings such as the Silver King Hotel, an L-shaped adobe from 1876, are a world away from a modern slab. Thick walls, old door frames and years of repairs leave gaps, and anything that travels at night will use them. Spiders, ants, roaches and scorpions all fit that description. If you own an older building here, tell Kai before he arrives what can and cannot be touched. The Florence Townsite went on the National Register of Historic Places in October 1982, so check what your own building allows before anyone seals, drills or fastens anything. Bark scorpions fit through cracks about 2 mm wide, and no one is going to make an adobe wall airtight. The realistic aim is door sweeps, screens and clearing what leans against the wall.

Merrill Ranch is the opposite case. The Town annexed 8,970 acres in 2004 and building has followed. New subdivisions mean block walls and irrigated yards with desert close by, the same settings bark scorpions favor, according to University of Arizona Extension.

Hunt Highway, Poston Butte and the Merrill Ranch desert line
Three roads shape this town: State Route 79, State Route 287 and Hunt Highway. Hunt Highway is the one that leads to Anthem at Merrill Ranch, northwest of downtown, and past Poston Butte, where Charles Poston, the man called the Father of Arizona, is buried on the summit. Ashurst-Hayden Dam, finished in 1921, helped farming spread across this stretch, and the San Carlos Irrigation Project still serves Florence.
So a short drive can pass new stucco, rock, open desert and irrigated ground. Each edge sends something different toward the house. A wall facing desert means scorpions, spiders and pack rats. A wall facing watered ground leans toward ants and crickets. Kai will ask what your back wall looks at before he says anything about a plan.
Kissing bugs, pack rats and the edge of town
Pack rats matter out here for more than the mess. University of Arizona Extension says their middens are common breeding sites for kissing bugs, also called conenose bugs, and that a nest under or against a home lets the bugs crawl in through cracks. Arizona has seven species. Adults fly well, come to lights after dark and disperse from May through July.
Extension's prevention list is plain: seal cracks with weather stripping, door sweeps and silicone, screen windows and vents, and clear nests near buildings while leaving distant ones alone. If you find one, collect it in a container. Extension says the biggest health risk is a severe allergic reaction, so call 911 for severe symptoms. Whether kissing bug work is something Kai takes on depends on the property, so ask him on the phone. At this distance he will be honest about it.
How does a visit work from 52 miles away?
Florence is the sort of address where the phone call matters most. Kai is one person, and the drive takes a big piece out of his day. Call first, describe the problem, and do not plan around a date until he has confirmed it. He may tell you the distance does not suit a regular schedule, and he would rather say so now.
If he comes, it is Kai at the door. Customers report he explains what he is doing, treats inside and out, and addresses how to prevent the next problem.
What can pest control in Florence, AZ cover?
These are the services that fit both ends of town.
The Gila, Adamsville and what we will not claim
The Gila River has shaped this area for a long time. A marker at nearby Adamsville says the flooding Gila washed away most of its adobe houses, and a 1900 flood largely finished the town. Town records put Florence along the river, so low ground and storm runoff are worth mentioning when you call.
We have no Florence reviews and no local job stories, so you will not read any here. The reviews below are from other Kekoa customers.
“We’ve been so impressed with our pest control service! Kai is always professional, punctual, and extremely knowledgeable. He takes time to explain what he’s doing and makes sure we understand how to prevent future issues.”
“Since working with him, we’ve seen a huge improvement—especially with eliminating scorpions from our yard. Highly recommend!”

Pest control in Florence: questions
Will Kai actually drive to Florence?
Sometimes, and only after a phone call. Florence is about 88 minutes and 52 miles from Tempe, and he is the only person doing the work, so it has to fit his week. Tell him what you are dealing with. He will give you a straight answer on whether he can make it.
Can a historic adobe be treated like a modern house?
Not exactly. Older adobe and brick walls have their own gaps, and you may not want anything fastened or drilled. Tell Kai what the building is before the visit. He will say what he would do, follow label directions, and list the products used if you are on monthly service.
Do pack rats and kissing bugs go together on a Florence desert lot?
They can. University of Arizona Extension says pack rat middens are common breeding sites for kissing bugs, and a nest against a home lets them reach cracks. On a Florence lot facing open desert, check sheds, woodpiles and cactus near the wall. Describe what you find, and Kai will say whether it is work he takes on.
